Vera Venus Bias Slip Pattern

This blog post is a from a now defunct website, so the original posts are not the most clear in quality, but they are still absolutely usable.

The instructions here are followed by the full pattern pieces that you can save and trace out using a projector but you can also find a link here to the tiled pattern which you can print and tape together.

I’ve made this pattern twice now and I would definitely suggest you make a mockup before you cut out your final fabric. The pattern is very easily altered and I have found the difference between the original pattern and a simple taking it in a little down the side seam to be major. In both the slips I have made from this pattern I took the slip in about 2” at the waist, tapering it into the bust and down into the hip.

The pattern also suggests you pin hem both sides of the bust pieces, but I prefer to pin hem the front bust hem, and then finish the side bust hem and back hem all at once, with 1 1/2” bias facing. I found the bias facing to add just a little bit more structure and body to the finished dress, which I think is both pretty, and adds a little support to flimsy fabrics.
